Following a severe tornado in 2005, our practice was engaged to design the replacement buildings and upgrade of the existing administration. The solution proposed and constructed involved relocating an existing large timber-framed hall further down the site allowing room for a new standard pattern teaching block. The ‘memory’ of the demolished original classrooms was created with a new art room, music room and expansion of the administration building. The final outcome creates a collegiate feel of buildings surrounding a central paved quadrangle and establises a long term built environment framework for Bicton Primary School.
