This facility is located on the outskirts of this wheatbelt town, on the edge of the school football oval and in between the main Merredin Senior High School campus and the adjacent CY O’Connor TAFE. It brings together the teaching resources from both places. The building is designed to house light automotive, wet trades, metal fabrication and welding workshops with supporting classroom, office and ablution facilities. Both the workshop and support facilities have been designed to mirror daily work flow and circulation patterns and constructed with robust materials capable of existing within an environment that comprises both sub-zero and plus 40 degree temperatures. This material palette also extends to clearly define spatial use: steel for the workshops and brick for teaching spaces.
