2007 RAIA Commendation for Small Project Architecture (WA)

A new covered assembly, canteen, pre-primary and landscape upgrade. The school was very supportive of the idea to use the under cover area (UCA) beyond its conventional role to become a flexible performance space and generator for more useful outdoor school activities. Eastern orientation for the open side avoids bad weather entering the UCA and creates an inclusive relationship with the only grassed area on the school grounds. The western side faces a raked grassed outdoor auditoria, the fall of which meets auditoria design aspects. The UCA has two large sliding doors that open to reveal a removable stage area.
